Self-Watering Planter Design

As many of you know, I am an avid plant lover. I have been collecting tropical plants for a couple years. Tropical plants require much more water than most houseplants; to solve this, I have been using these plastic self-watering planters from amazon.

This design includes an inner pot that had a projection at the bottom so, the inner pot could suck up water from the outer-pot.

I always wondered if I could make it with clay so, I drew out a plan for my design.

I was very pleased with how my first prototype came out and then it was ready to test it with one of my tropical plants.

Anthurium wendlingeri in my self-watering planter.

This plant is now thriving in its pot and has given me many flowers and new leafs! I should consider this project a success and will have self-watering planters for sale on December 4th.
